Frequently Asked Questions About NCMHCE Tutoring With Bisi

Please reach to me at info@bloomingwithbisi.com if you cannot find an answer to your questions.

  • This will depend on your testing style and your work-life balance. I typically recommend at least 3 months of study time with at least 5 hours a week of independent study time in the first month. Then continue to increase study times as you get closer to your exam date.

  • This amount will vary depending on how close your exam date is. 30 days from your exam, I suggest 2-3 sessions a week.

A minimum of 30 days before your exam is needed to be taken on as a tutoring client. Six weeks minimum is needed to receive a study calendar.

  • Sessions last for a minimum of 50 minutes. You may request longer sessions if you would like.

  • Depending on your session frequency, and the subject areas you are struggling with the most, time will be split between practice question reviews and concept breakdowns.

  • The initial session is $60. You will receive my NCMHCE Theories Simplified Study Guide, my Study Hall PowerPoint, and a *personalized calendar after this session.

The following sessions are $45 per hour.

You need to have six weeks remaining before your test to receive a personalized study calendar.

  • A personal subscription to CounselingExam is required for tutoring sessions.

  • Paypal invoices will be sent to you following the session.

  • No-shows and late reschedules/cancellations (less than 24 hours) will be charged $35 regardless of your ability to reschedule.

15-minutes late without prior communication is considered a no-show.

  • Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

  • Passing scores aren’t state-dependent! The range I have seen is 59-66, but you know the required score for your version until after you’ve finished the exam. Here’s how the NBCC describes their scoring process:

“Within the 130–150 questions on each form of the NCMHCE, 100 of the questions are scored for the purpose of determining whether the candidate meets the minimum criterion (passing) score for that test form. Each of these 100 questions count for one score point; thus, the maximum possible score a candidate can achieve is 100. The cut score (minimum passing score) for the NCMHCE is calculated through a standard-setting process, which requires a committee of subject matter experts to review and evaluate each question on the examination in order to determine the passing score that would be expected from a minimally qualified candidate (MQC).

A process of statistical equating is used to determine the cut score for each version of the examination. Statistical equating ensures fairness to all candidates by associating the cut score on a test form with the difficulty level of the items within the form. To ensure fairness, the cut score of each examination version will vary slightly” (Candidate Handbook for State Licensure National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination™ (NCMHCE®), page 20)

  • Being on a computer is preferred. During the first session I will be sharing my screen. In following sessions you will be sharing your screen when we work on Narratives.
