How to Know If Tutoring With Me Is Right for You!
You’re likely a great fit if:
You’re motivated to pass and willing to put in the work.
You’re committed to staying consistent, even when life gets busy.
You want clear, practical guidance, not just more material to memorize.
You learn best with accountability, structure, and encouragement.
You’ve taken the exam before, and you’re ready to approach it differently this time.
Appreciate a tutor who is warm, direct, and knows what it’s like to be in your shoes.
This might not be the right fit if:
You’re hoping for a quick fix without learning the material.
You’re not in a place to commit to a regular study routine.
You’re looking for a tutor to just give you the answers.
You read the Policy and Procedures and don’t feel that it aligns with your needs.
If any of this sounds like you, I’d love to help you feel more confident, prepared, and in control of your study process.
Tutoring Policies & Procedures
Effective as of September 1st, 2026
1. Who I Serve
I work with students who are:
Motivated and ready to take their studying seriously.
Committed to consistent attendance and communication.
Respectful of time, boundaries, and policies.
Because tutoring availability is limited, I prioritize working with students who are committed to actively participating in the tutoring process and maintaining consistent attendance.
2. Booking Sessions
New Clients
New clients must complete the Tutoring Interest Form before scheduling. A response and approval are required before booking.
You must have at least 60 days from your first appointment to the date of your exam to be accepted as a tutoring client.
Submitting an interest form or being placed on the waitlist does not guarantee acceptance as a tutoring client. When additional availability becomes available, I will review submitted interest forms and notify individuals who are approved to move forward.
Returning Clients
Returning approved clients may schedule sessions when tutoring openings are available on my calendar.
If no slots are available on the calendar, I am fully booked. Approved clients may request to be added to my cancellation list.
If you would like a recurring appointment time, it may be reserved depending on my availability and your ability to maintain consistent attendance. Recurring appointment times are not guaranteed and may be released if sessions are repeatedly canceled or rescheduled.
If you do not have a recurring appointment time, sessions are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis based on available openings.
3. Client Status & Scheduling Priority
Active Tutoring Clients
Active tutoring clients are clients who have attended a tutoring session within the previous 2 months.
Active tutoring clients receive priority when scheduling upcoming monthly availability. Before releasing new openings, I first discuss scheduling needs with current active clients during their sessions and make any necessary adjustments to their recurring or upcoming appointments.
Inactive Tutoring Clients
Clients who have not attended a tutoring session within the previous 2 months are considered inactive tutoring clients.
Inactive tutoring clients are still welcome to return and schedule sessions when openings are available; however, they do not receive active client scheduling priority.
Inactive clients are subject to current session rates at the time of rebooking.
Monthly Availability Release
Tutoring availability for the following month is released on the third Monday of each month.
Before releasing openings publicly on my calendar, I first address scheduling needs with active tutoring clients during their sessions and make any necessary adjustments to their recurring or upcoming appointments.
After active clients have had the opportunity to schedule, any remaining openings are released to approved clients, including inactive clients and individuals who have been approved and released from the waitlist.
4. Rates & Payment
Rates are $100 for the first session and $80 for following sessions unless otherwise stated.
If you have not had a session within the last 2 months, you will be subject to the current session rate at the time of rebooking.
Rates are subject to change periodically and will go into effect for new clients and inactive clients.
PayPal invoices will be sent to you the day before your session.
Payment is due by 9:00 AM EST on the morning of your session. If payment is not received by this time, the session will be canceled.
Overdue balances will result in all future sessions being canceled until your balance is paid. There is no guarantee that your previous appointment time will still be available after cancellation.
Sessions are non-refundable. You may reschedule with proper notice (see cancellation policy).
5. Cancellations & Rescheduling
A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
Cancellations and reschedules under 24 hours or no-shows will be forfeited and non-refundable.
If I need to cancel within 24 hours of a session, you will be given a free late cancellation/reschedule waiver to use in the future.
Because tutoring appointments are limited, consistent attendance is required.
Frequent cancellations or rescheduling, even when made with appropriate notice, may result in:
Loss of recurring appointment privileges.
Being moved to inactive client status.
Discontinuation of tutoring services.
No-shows without communication will result in immediate discontinuation of services. In the event of an emergency, please communicate with me as soon as possible, and we can discuss whether continuing sessions is appropriate.
6. Cancellation List
The cancellation list is separate from the waitlist.
The cancellation list is for approved clients who would like to be notified if an earlier opening becomes available due to a cancellation.
Being on the cancellation list does not guarantee an appointment, reserve a specific time, or provide priority over other approved clients.
If a cancellation occurs, clients on the cancellation list may be personally notified about the available opening.
Because cancellations are rare, openings are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
If another approved client sees and schedules an opening before I am able to reach out, they are welcome to schedule the available appointment.
7. Session Expectations
All tutoring clients are required to have an active subscription to CounselingExam.com.
This resource is essential for our work together, and sessions will not be conducted without proof of an active subscription.
Come prepared with your materials, questions, and goals for the session.
Sessions will focus on skill-building, understanding concepts, and strategic exam preparation.
Disruptive behavior or repeated lack of engagement may result in discontinued services.
Please join from your computer and with your camera on, as you will need to share your screen.
For your safety and to maintain focus, sessions may not be attended while driving or operating a vehicle. Joining a session while driving will result in the session being ended and counted as a missed session.
8. Inactive Clients & Re-Engagement
If you have not booked a session in over 2 months, your client file will be considered inactive.
Inactive clients are still welcome to request to return to tutoring services; however, returning clients are subject to:
Current availability.
Current session rates.
Completion of a brief re-intake process to confirm goals, exam timeline, and readiness to resume tutoring.
Clients who demonstrate repeated cancellations, frequent rescheduling, or difficulty maintaining consistent attendance may not be eligible to resume tutoring services in the future.
9. Communication
Please use email for all tutoring communication.
I aim to respond within 24–48 hours during business days.
Communication outside business hours may be answered during the next available window.
10. Confidentiality & Respect
All client information discussed during sessions is confidential and used solely for educational purposes.
I expect mutual respect and professionalism in all interactions.
AI notetakers and recording of sessions are not allowed.
Facebook group posts and online reviews are not confidential and may be shared with others.
11. Group Sessions
You must have your own group members to receive group support. Groups will not be formed for you.
A maximum of 4 clients can be enrolled for a session to run.
Each group member will need to have an individual session with me first before the group starts.
Group rates are $70 per person, per session.

This will depend on your testing style and your work-life balance. I recommend at least 3 months of study time with at least 5 hours a week of independent study time in the first month. Then continue to increase study times as you get closer to your exam date.
-
This amount will vary depending on how close your exam date is. Early on, I would recommend once a week or every other week if you have at least 3 months before your exam. 30 days from your exam, I suggest 2-3 sessions a week.
I have found that clients who come to tutoring regularly have had the most success.
A minimum of 60 days before your exam is needed to be taken on as a tutoring client.
-
Yes, if you are a returning client. But if you do not have a recurring spot, sessions are first-come, first-served.
If it has been longer than 2 months since you’re last session, you will be considered inactive and will be charged the current rate for future sessions. -
Unfortunately, my calendar is accurate, and I do not have any more openings for this month. As I still see therapy clients, I only have a limited number of spots available for tutoring. Please email me if you would like to be notified of cancellations.
Session preference is given to clients with a recurring spot. The remaining sessions are first-come, first-served.
If you would like a recurring spot, please let me know during our session, and we can work together to find a spot.
Session availability for the following month will be posted on the 3rd Monday of each month. -
Sessions are 50 minutes. You may request longer sessions if you would like, but this is dependent on my schedule availability.
-
Depending on your session frequency and the subject areas you are struggling with the most, time will be split between practice question reviews and concept breakdowns.

Passing scores aren’t state-dependent! The range I have seen is 59-66, but you know the required score for your version until after you’ve finished the exam. Here’s how the NBCC describes their scoring process:
“Within the 130–150 questions on each form of the NCMHCE, 100 of the questions are scored for the purpose of determining whether the candidate meets the minimum criterion (passing) score for that test form. Each of these 100 questions count for one score point; thus, the maximum possible score a candidate can achieve is 100. The cut score (minimum passing score) for the NCMHCE is calculated through a standard-setting process, which requires a committee of subject matter experts to review and evaluate each question on the examination in order to determine the passing score that would be expected from a minimally qualified candidate (MQC).
A process of statistical equating is used to determine the cut score for each version of the examination. Statistical equating ensures fairness to all candidates by associating the cut score on a test form with the difficulty level of the items within the form. To ensure fairness, the cut score of each examination version will vary slightly” (Candidate Handbook for State Licensure National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination™ (NCMHCE®), page 20)
